Pirates Win; Tied for First in SCCBL

pirates gm 18Sitting just a half game back of Team San Diego and the Palm Springs Power, the Inland Valley Pirates knew they had a very important game against the Bucs Thursday afternoon at Cal Poly Pomona.

The Pirates (15-4, 6-3) responded superbly defeating the Bucs (3-14, 2-9) 4-1.

Bucs Suffer Setback

bucs gm 12The Buccaneers (3-13, 2-8) suffered a 3-1 setback against the Lancaster Rounders Tuesday afternoon at Cal Poly Pomona.

Lancaster scored one in the sixth and two in the seventh to take a 3-0 lead.

Pirates Complete Doubleheader Sweep

pirates gm 15The Pirates (12-3-1, 4-2) defeated the Bucs (3-12, 2-8) 10-3 Saturday afternoon at Cal Poly Pomona to complete the doubleheader sweep.

The Pirates put the game away early, jumping out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning.

Pirates Top Bucs in Game 1

pirates gm 14The Pirates (11-3-1, 3-2) toppled the Bucs (3-11, 2-7) 3-1 in Game 1 of the double header Saturday afternoon at Cal Poly Pomona.

The Pirates scored quickly in the first when Fernando Escobar scored on a wild pitch to make it 1-0.

Bucs Lose to Power

bucs gm 10The Buccaneers (3-10, 2-6) lost 10-0 to the Palm Springs Power (14-1, 3-1) on Wednesday night at Palm Springs Stadium.

The Power jumped ahead early and often scoring four in the first, two in the second and two more in the third to take an 8-0 lead out of the gate.

Kevin Riley went 2-for-4. Jack Spohn finished 1-for-2.

Bucs Suffer Heartbreaking Loss in Palm Springs

bucs gm 9The Inland Valley Bucs (3-9, 2-5) suffered a heartbreaking 4-3 setback against the Palm Springs Power (13-1, 2-1) Tuesday night at Palm Springs Stadium.

After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, the Bucs fought back to take a 3-1 lead.

Acosta Delivers a Walk-Off Winner

Bucs gm 8Nathaniel Acosta only had one at-bat, but it was all he needed to become the walk-off hero for the Inland Valley Buccaneers (3-8, 2-4) in a 3-2 victory against the Long Beach Legends (11-4-1).

The Bucs started the scoring off in the second inning as Jack Spohn doubled and scored on a Michael Smith RBI single. Smith finished 4-for-4 on the day.

Bucs Suffer Devastating 3 Loss Day

bucs gm 11The Buccaneers (2-8, 2-4) suffered a devastating three-loss day on Saturday in San Diego.

Game 2

Bucs Pull it out in 9th Against SD

bucs gm 7Mbusi Hlatshwayo was the hero in Game 1 of the series against San Diego when he cranked a game-winning RBI triple in the ninth inning.

The Bucs (2-5, 2-1) prevailed 5-4 over Team San Diego (7-2, 0-1).

Pirates Blank Bucs

Pirates gm 5The Pirates (5-0) continued their stellar play Wednesday night at Cal Poly Pomona with a two-hitter and a 4-0 victory over the Bucs (0-3).

Anthony Seminaris broke up the no-hitter with two outs in the sixth inning when he turned on an inside pitch and ripped it down the left field line.
