Bucs Under Fire

The first game of the doubleheader Wednesday afternoon at Cal Poly Pomona was a forgettable affair for the Inland Valley Bucs (0-2) falling to the Lake Havasu Fire 9-0.

The Fire scored three in the first, one in the second and fourth, three in the sixth and one in the ninth.

Anthony Seminaris went 2-for-2 with a walk.

Bucs 2015 Season Preview

The Bucs return nine players from last year’s inaugural season.

SCCBL all-stars Gerardo Ramirez, Kevin Riley and Miles Ryan are all back to build what they started into a playoff contender.

Riley was one of the standout offensive players in the entire league in 2014. He lead the team in batting average (.368), on base (.461) and slugging (483), while seemingly coming up with a big hit every single time the Bucs needed him to come through.

Ryan came on strong in the last month of the season en route to be named player of the week once. He finished with a .350 batting clip, .409 OBP and .400 SLG. He was also a stabilizing force behind home plate defensively.

Ramirez logged the most innings at 42. He finished 3-2 with a 3.43 ERA and 32 strikeouts.

Inland Valley All-Stars Revealed

pirates all stars copy The Inland Valley Baseball Association earned 10 combined all-star elections for the All-Star game on Saturday night at Palm Springs Stadium.

Bucs Burn the Heat in Doubleheader Sweep

bucs gm 25The Buccaneers finished their season in style with a sweep of the High Desert Heat and finished in fourth place of the SCCBL.

Inland Valley (11-19-1, 5-11) triumphed 11-2 over High Desert (8-18, 4-10) on Saturday afternoon in Game 2 of the double dip at Victor Valley College.

The Bucs finished their final 15 games with a winning record of 8-6-1.

Bucs Force Heat to Walk the Plank

bucs gm 26The Buccaneers (10-19-1, 4-11) defeated the High Desert Heat (8-17, 4-11) 8-3 on Saturday afternoon at Victor Valley College in Game 1 of the doubleheader.

Bucs Give Dodgers the Blues

Jayson De La Pena was superb, tossing five innings and striking out two, while allowing no runs.

Bucs Win with Big 8th Inning

bucs gm 22The Buccaneers (8-19-1, 3-11) won with late inning heroics by Tanner Thibodeau on a game-wining two-run triple in the eighth.

Inland Valley defeated AOS Baseball 6-3 on Tuesday afternoon at Cal Poly Pomona.

Bucs Drop Both Games in San Diego

bucs gm 23The Buccaneers (7-19-1, 3-11) fell 4-2 to the San Diego Force Friday afternoon at Valhalla High School.

The started off strong with a three-run first inning and tacked on one more run in the seventh to take a 4-0 lead.

Inland Valley answered in the eighth when Tanner Thibodeau belted a two-run home run scoring Bryce Brooks.

Bucs Swept by Power

bucs gm 20The Buccaneers (7-17-1, 3-11) were swept by the Palm Springs Power (27-5, 7-2) 17-4 on Wednesday night at Palm Springs Stadium.

The Power struck with one run in the first and the score remained 1-0 until the bottom of the fourth.

The Power surged for 13 runs in the fourth to grab a 14-0 lead and put the game out of reach.

Bucs Eliminated from Playoff Contention

bucs gm 19The Buccaneers (7-16-1, 3-10) fell 4-1 to the Palm Springs Power (26-5, 6-2) Tuesday night at Palm Springs Stadium.

The Power jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning.

Inland Valley responded with one run in the sixth on an RBI single by Johnny Juarez.

Palm Springs plated two more runs in the seventh.
