Bucs Season Comes to an End

The Inland Valley Buccaneers (13-17-3) were swept by the OC Riptide in their first round SCCBL playoffs series on Tuesday afternoon at Vanguard University.

The Riptide won 4-1.

No one scored for the first five innings, but in the sixth, the Riptide scored three due to a couple of errors in the inning.

The Bucs got one back in the eighth on an RBI knock by Bryce Brooks, but the Riptide responded with another run in the bottom half of the frame.

Randall Ortiz tossed six stellar innings allowing no earned runs, but was the tough luck losing pitcher.

Bucs Split with Riptide

The Inland Valley Bucs (13-15-2, 8-11) split the season series with the OC Riptide (15-19-1, 12-8) on Wednesday night at Cal Poly Pomona.

The Bucs won 10-3 in the final game of the set and will renew the rivalry next Monday in the first round of the SCCBL playoffs.

For the first seven innings, it was a back-and-forth affair until the Bucs used a six-run eighth inning to put the game out of reach.

Randall Ortiz was sensational tossing 6.2 innings and striking out six, while not allowing an earned run.

The Riptide got out to a 1-0 lead in the first.

The Bucs answered with one in the third on a Kevin Riley RBI double, but he was just getting started.

Inland Valley grabbed a 2-1 lead in the fifth as Brendan Campbell crossed home plate.

The Riptide fought back with two in the seventh to regain the lead at 3-2.

The Bucs responded with two of their own in the bottom of the frame to rip the lead away for good.

Riley had his second RBI double of the day to tie it at 3-3 and scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch.

In the ninth, things got out of hand for the Riptide as the Bucs came through with six runs.

JP Hopkins had a tw0-run knock.

Riley cranked his third double down the left field line, this time scoring two for a total of four RBI and scored his second run of the game as well.

Bryce Brooks rounded out the scoring with an RBI ground out.

Jacob Taylor hurled 2.1 innings and recorded his first victory of the season.

The Bucs travel south to Madison High School to face the San Diego Force in their regular season finale at 5 p.m. on Friday.

Bucs Sucomb to Riptide

The Inland Valley Bucs (12-15-2, 7-11) lost 12-5 to the OC Riptide on Tuesday afternoon at Vanguard University.

A variety of physical and mental errors contributed to a three-run third and five-run fourth inning to give the Riptide an 8-0 lead at the end of the fourth.

The Riptide built the lead to 12-0 after scoring twice in the sixth and seventh innings.

The Bucs fought back with four in the eighth and one in the ninth to make it a more respectable final score.

Joseph Morreale and Blake Vandegrift had RBI knocks and Bryce Brooks ripped a two-run single in the eighth.

Matt Majher had the RBI single in the ninth.

The Bucs will look for a measure of revenge Wednesday afternoon at Cal Poly Pomona at 5 p.m.

Bucs Walkoff Against Riptide

The Inland Valley Buccaneers (6-8, 4-4) got a measure of revenge against the OC Riptide (5-11-1, 3-3) early Saturday morning at Cal Poly Pomona.

The Bucs walked off in the 12th inning as Joseph Morreale had the game-winning RBI scoring Breyer Gayle.

The Bucs took a 1-0 lead in the first when Kevin Riley scored on a RBI single by Bryce Brooks.

The Riptide answered with two in the fourth and tacked on one more insurance run in the seventh to grab a 3-1 lead.

The Bucs fought back with two in the bottom of the eighth to knot it at 3 apiece.

Gayle knocked in Shamon Moss and scored the tying run on a base knock by Johnny Juarez to right field.

Randall Ortiz was electric tossing five innings in relief and striking out five, while earning the victory.

Jonathon Hopkins worked six solid innings as well en route to claiming four strikeout victims, while only allowing three hits.

Inland Valley has two off days before making the trip east to Palm Springs for a big two-game series against the Power starting Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Bucs Burn the Heat in Doubleheader Sweep

bucs gm 25The Buccaneers finished their season in style with a sweep of the High Desert Heat and finished in fourth place of the SCCBL.

Inland Valley (11-19-1, 5-11) triumphed 11-2 over High Desert (8-18, 4-10) on Saturday afternoon in Game 2 of the double dip at Victor Valley College.

The Bucs finished their final 15 games with a winning record of 8-6-1.

Bucs Force Heat to Walk the Plank

Bucs Give Dodgers the Blues

Bucs Drop Both Games in San Diego

The started off strong with a three-run first inning and tacked on one more run in the seventh to take a 4-0 lead.

Inland Valley answered in the eighth when Tanner Thibodeau belted a two-run home run scoring Bryce Brooks.

Bucs Swept by Power

bucs gm 20The Buccaneers (7-17-1, 3-11) were swept by the Palm Springs Power (27-5, 7-2) 17-4 on Wednesday night at Palm Springs Stadium.

The Power struck with one run in the first and the score remained 1-0 until the bottom of the fourth.

The Power surged for 13 runs in the fourth to grab a 14-0 lead and put the game out of reach.

Bucs Offense Sparks Fireworks on 4th of July Weekend

BUCS GM 18The Buccaneers (7-15-1, 3-9) defeated AOS Baseball 12-5 Sunday afternoon at Cal Poly Pomona.

Inland Valley trailed 5-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth, but refused to give in.

Anthony Seminaris started the rally off with a single and scored on a two-run single by Kevin Riley. Richie Chavez, who singled, scored on the play as well. Riley scored on an RBI ground out by Jake Teagle. Johnny Juarez singled and scored on a hit by Bryce Brooks.
