The Inland Valley Pirates got strong pitching to beat the Inland Valley Buccanners 5-2 . The win was the Pirates fifth in their last 6 games and have now improved to 8-5 and 10-8 overall. With the loss the Buccaneers fall to 6-9 in league and 9-10 overall
The Pirates had four pitchers combine to allow only 6 hits while striking 9. Starter Andre Henson allowed four hits and one earned run his four innings. Relievers Roberto Baldenebro, Kevin Kramer, and Travis Jackson would throw the remaining 5 innings while only allowing 2 more hits and one run.
After falling behind 0=1, the Pirates would take the lead on a 2-run double by DH Joey Riherd. After the Bucs tied the score in the top of the 5th, the Pirates would would get two runners on base against Bucs reliever Adrian Guzman. Chase Wehesner would then hit a ground rule double scoring 1 run to put the Pirates up 3-2. With the lead in place, the Pirates would tack on a run in the 7th and the 8th to make it 5-2.
Both teams play each other again on Monday night at 7 PM at Amerige Park.
