The Inland Valley Pirates beat the Ventura County Pirates 7-5 on Thursday to improve to 2-1 in league and 2-3 overall.
Ventura County started the scoring with 1 in the 2nd inning and 2 in the 3rd inning. With the score 3-0 in the 4th, Inland Valley would tack on 1 run with an RBI single from John Santospago. Inland Valley wouldn’t score again until the 7th when they would push across 5 runs to take a 6-4 lead. They would bring 8 batters to the plate and get 4 hits along with 2 walks.
Ventura County would bring the lead to within 1 on a Max Sterner home run in the 8th. That would be all Ventura County would get as Inland Valley would add one more in the 8th also for a final score of 7-5.
Both Pirates teams will play again each other on Thursday at Citrus College on Thursday at 4:30 PM.
