Bucs lose doubleheader to San Diego Force 4-3 and 2-1

The Bucs were swept in a doubleheader by the San Diego Force on Tuesday night. San Diego won the first game 4-3 in 10 innings and captured the night cap 2-1.

In game one, Inland Valley trailed 2-1 in the bottom of the eighth. But Johnny Juarez’s two-out two-run homer put the Bucs up 3-2 heading into the ninth.

San Diego was down to their final out with runners on first and second. Carl Schwettman hit a routine pop up in the infield that was mishandled for an error allowing the tying run to score from second base.

San Diego’s Tyler Plantier capped off a 5-5 game by delivering an RBI double in the top of the 10th to win it.

In game two, Plantier was once again the difference maker. His two-run homer in the top of the 6th put the Force up 2-0.

In the 7th, the Bucs cut it to a one run game and had the bases loaded with one out. But Joey Rieherd bounced into a 6-4-3 double play to end the inning.

Jake Castillo pitched his second consecutive strong game. The right hander went seven innings, allowed eight hits, and two runs.

The Bucs host the SoCal Bombers Wednesday at Cal Poly Pomona.
