The Inland Valley Bucs were three outs away from suffering a disheartening loss to the Riverside Bulldogs on Friday night. They somehow managed to pull themselves off the deck and rally for an 8-7 victory at Scolinos Field.
The Bucs trailed 7-4 heading into the bottom of the ninth. Tommy Delgadillo led off with a single. Jacob Doty was hit by a pitch to put two runners on board. After Joey Riherd filed out. Patrick Vizcaino stepped up and perhaps saved the Bucs season. He deposited a pitch over the left field wall for his first home run of the season and tied the game at 7.
Inland Valley wasn’t done yet. Javier Rosales was hit by a pitch and advanced to second on a wild pitch. That set the stage for Todd Yost. He singled sharply to right forcing Rosales to hold at third. But the throw from right fielder Marcelo Arcos eluded first baseman Alex Rodriguez allowing Rosales to race home with the game winning run.
Earlier in the day the Bucs and Bulldogs completed a suspended game from June 25th. Inland Valley won it 9-3.
