Bucs drop doubleheader to first place Power

 

The Inland Valley Bucs dropped a doubleheader to the Palm Springs Power Monday  night at Cal Poly Pomona.
Palm Springs captured the opener winning 9-5 and then took the nightcap 6-3.
In game one, Power starter Steven Barker threw seven innings and limited the Bucs to just one run. Skyler Hunter had a big night offensively for Palm Springs. The shortstop went 3-4 with 3RBI.
Inland Valley’s Johnny Juarez hit his second home run of the season. A three-run shot in the eighth.
In game two, Palm Springs staring pitching was once again at the forefront. Mercer University’s Sawyer Gipson-Long struck out 16 as the Power completed the sweep of Inland Valley.
After giving up an RBI double to Johnny Juarez in the bottom of the third, Gipson-Long struck out the next eight hitters.
The Bucs Jacob Doty and Christian Lyman each hit solo home runs in a losing effort.
