The Buccaneers offense exploded for eight runs in an 8-4 victory over the Lancaster Rounders (2-2-1) on Saturday afternoon at Cal Poly Pomona.
Chris Sanchez (1-0) dazzled on the mound tossing 8.1 innings, while striking out 10 and only allowing one earned run.
Inland Valley started off things right in the first inning with four runs.
Luke Asperger knocked in Rudy Casarez. Johnny Juarez doubled in Kevin Riley. Bryce Brooks scored on an error. Gerardo Ramirez belted an RBI double scoring Juarez.
The Bucs tacked on another run in the second to make it 5-0 when Riley ripped an RBI single scoring Mbusi Hlatshwayo, who had stolen second and third.
Asperger scored in the third increasing the lead to 6-0.
The Rounders responded with one in the fifth, but the Bucs went right back to work extending the lead to 7-1 in the bottom half of the inning as Jack Spohn drove in Brooks.
The Rounders plated one in the seventh, but once again the Bucs responded immediately with a run in the eighth to make it an 8-2 ballgame. Brendan Campbell scored on a base hit by Richie Chavez.
The Rounders added two runs in the ninth.
