Off Key Pitching Causes Pirates to Drop Game to Ventura County Pirates

In their last home game of the regular season, the Inland Valley Pirates lose the first game of a two-game series with the Ventura County Pirates, 12-1 on Tuesday night.

It was just not Inland Valley’s night. With a total of 9 walks, Ventura County was able to capitalize and take an early lead and increase it through out tonight’s match up.

Despite the score, Inland Valley did not go without a fight. With 10 total strikeout from tonight’s pitching staff of Jesse Villalobos (13), Dennis Hildebrandt (16), Mike Blanco (29) and Avery Rivera (3). The Pirates got their one run from a single from catcher, Tristen Macias (21) and hits from left fielder, Brandon Wolff (4) and third baseman, Mark Mohler (9) to bring in Macias.

After tonight’s league contest, the Inland Valley Pirates are 6-17 in SBL play. These two teams will battle it out again on Thursday, July 19 at LA Valley College 4:30 pm.
