Big win tonight for the SBL Inland Valley Pirates as they took down the league-leading Long Beach Legends in a 5-3 victory.
The Legends got off to a quick start, scoring their first run early in the first inning. Inland Valley would wait until the third to answer when back to back RBI double’s from Isaiah Montoya and John Santospago would bring three Pirates in to score. Michael Moy would then add his own RBI double in the seventh to bring the Pirate’s run total to five for the night.
Looking to claw their way back, Long Beach would score an additional run in both the fifth and ninth innings. Solid performances on the mound from Pirate’s pitchers Angel Ruiz Jr. and Tristen Macias, however, prevented the Legends from evening things up.
Not only does this win come against the SBL’s top team, but it also snaps a nine game losing streak for Inland Valley and brings their total overall record to 6-18.
With just three games left this regular season, the Pirates look to Tuesday evening when they play their final home game of the summer at Amerige park against the Ventura County Pirates at 7:00pm.
