The Inland Valley Pirates add a fourth consecutive loss to their winning drought by dropping Thursday’s game to the SoCal Sparrows.
Trouble on the mound allowed the Sparrows to take advantage and put on a strong offensive performance, with the final score coming in at 13-5.
Inland Valley was not able to get on the board until the sixth when the team scored their first two runs. Despite their early struggles, some of the Pirates had solid performances in the’s game. Dennis Hildebrandt would finish three for four at bat and with three RBI’s, Jacob Taylor hit a home run in the seventh and Alberto Vargas, who came in as a pinch hitter, went two for two at bat, hitting single base hits both times.
The efforts by those Pirate’s, however, were not enough to putt off a comeback and the Sparrows took home the road win over their Sunset Baseball league opponent.
This leaves the Pirates with an overall record of 5-13.
Inland Valley will get another shot at the Sparrows this Saturday when they travel to Vanguard University to play SoCal at home at 10:30am.
