In the first game of a double header Thursday Afternoon, the Inland Valley Pirates beat the Palm Springs Power 3-1. This would be the Power’s first loss of the season as they started 10-0. The Pirates improve to 2-1 in league play and 4-4 overall.
Following back to back singles in the fourth Kyle Harper and Chase Wehesner, the pitcher Jake Lacheman would get an RBI double to put the Pirates up 1-0. The lead wouldn’t last long for the Pirates as the next inning the Power would get a leadoff walk that would eventually come to score on a RBI double by Dillion Spears.
The game would stay tied at 1-1 until the bottom of the 7th when the Pirates would add 2 more runs to make it 3-1. Jake Anderson would get an RBI double bring home Nick Peifer who reached on a leadoff walk. After advancing to third on a groundout, Anderson would score on a wild pitch by Power Pitcher Jacob Corn. Those would be all the runs the Pirates needed as Trevor Jackson would come into relief after starting the game in center and retired the final 6 batters to get the save.
