In the first game of it’s double header on Sunday, the SBL Pirates secured the 12-8 win against the Signal Hill Oilers.
It was a offensive showing for both teams. The Oilers scored quick and early, earning three runs in the first and two in the second. They would add an additional run in the fifth and two more in the seventh, which tied up the game heading into the eighth.
The Pirates secured the win in the bottom of the eighth, scoring four runs to put them ahead 12-8.
The Oilers had one last chance to make something happen in the ninth, but could not get it done. Pirate’s pitcher Angel Ruiz Jr. came in as the reliever and struck out two Oilers back to back, helping to secure a scoreless inning for the Oilers.
