Pirates lose to Orioles 4-2

Inland Valley Pirates watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 4-2 loss to Orange County Orioles on Friday afternoon. The Pirates fall to 6-4 in Sunset League action with the loss.

Inland Valley Pirates took the early lead in the first inning after Jahshua Jones lead  off the game with  a double and then was driven in 4 batters later. This would be the only run the Pirates would score until the 9th inning as Orioles starter John Beltran would keep the Pirates offense at bay for seven and two-thirds innings. He only allowed one run on seven hits while striking out eight.

Jake Bryant would get the loss for the Pirates. He started on the mound for the Pirates and only allowed one hit but walked five while allowing 2 runs. Control was an issue all afternoon as 6 pitchers combined to walk 11 Orioles.

After allowing 2 runs in the top of the 9th, the Pirates tried mounting a comeback but were stopped while only scoring run and leaving a runner stranded at third.
