Pirates come from behind to beat Cardinals 4-3

 

The Inland Valley Pirates scored 48 runs in their last five games heading into Tuesday’s contest with the Solana Beach Cardinals. For seven innings they were held in check before a 4-3 come from behind victory.

The Pirates got on the board in the first courtesy of Spencer Max’s wild pitch that allowed Brandon Bradshaw to score. After that Inland Valley’s bats went silent.

Solana Beach grabbed the lead in the top of the fourth when Ari Gerber and Frankie Scalzo delivered back to back two-out RBI doubles.

Michael Benson came through for the Cardinals with another two-out RBI double that made it 3-1 after six.

Still trailing by two runs heading into the eighth the Bucs began the comeback. Inland Valley scored three times on just two hits. They were aided by a throwing error which allowed two runs to score.
