The Inland Valley Pirates (3-4-1) snapped a two game losing streak by shutting out the Orange County Orioles 11-0 on Tuesday night.
Pirates starter Chris Burnett was outstanding in his first start of the season throwing five scoreless innings. The right hander allowed just three hits and struck out two.
He got plenty of run support as Inland Valley scored a season high 11 runs. Ray Lemos hit his first home run of the year. His solo shot in the fifth inning off Orioles reliever Morgan Johnson gave the Pirates a 4-0 lead.
The Pirates broke it open in the sixth inning when they scored seven runs all with two out. Alberto Vargas delivered a two run single to cap off the scoring.
Inland Valley returns to action on Friday when they hit the road to play the South Bay Sparrows.
