Fullerton, Calif.- The Inland Valley Pirates baseball club squandered an early 2-0 lead, and ultimately fell 6-2 to the Cal Jays on Wednesday afternoon at Amerige Park. The Pirates received their first loss of the season.
The Pirates got off to a hot start, the bats broke through for two runs in the top of the first inning. Demetri Collachio and Matt Thompson both singled to right field and came home to score. This would end up being the only offense generated by the Pirates. Meanwhile, the Jays fired back with three runs in the second and two runs in the third inning.
The bullpen was a bright spot for the Pirates. Andre henson came in to strike out four in his 2.5 innings of work and Brian Marquez and Aaron Halpert held the jays zero hits
The boys will be back in action tomorrow against the San Diego Force. First pitch is scheduled at 7 pm. Jays win 6-2.
