Pirates win again over Bulldogs 7-4

For the second consecutive night the Inland Valley Pirates beat the Riverside Bulldogs at Amerige Park. The Pirates jumped out to an early lead and never looked back with a final score of 7-4. With the victory, the Pirates are in third place in the SCCBL with a 4-2 record.

The Pirates would get 3 runs in the 1st to get the early. Aaron Halpert would get a double and then be driven in by Bryce Willits for the first run. Two batters later, Trevor Jackson would take Bulldogs pitcher Jake Barbata deep for a 2-run homerun. The homerun would be his first of the year. The Bulldogs would answer back in the 2nd with two runs of their own off Pirates starter Khoto Hasegawa. With the score 3-2 Pirates in the second, the Pirates would add another run with a Joey Riherd single bringing home Chase Wehesner from second to put them up 4-2.

Both teams would score in the 4th and the Bulldogs would add another in the 5th to make the score 5-4 heading into the bottom of the 6th. The Pirates would get the first two runners on with a single and a walk before Joey Riherd would get another RBI to bring home Jake Jachemann. The next batter would hit into a double play but also bring in a run from third. With the 2 runs this inning, the Pirates would be up 7-4 and hold the lead for the last three innings,

The Pirates and Bulldogs play one more game Sunday night at Amerige Park at 7 PM.
