Buc Wild

The Inland Valley Bucs (10-12-2, 6-8) overpowered the Palm Springs Power (26-8, 10-3) 7-2 on Tuesday night at Palm Springs Stadium.

The win snapped a 10-game Power winning streak, and was more importantly the first win in Buccaneer history in seven tries against the perennial SCCBL favorites.

The Power took a 2-0 lead in the second, but it was all Inland Valley from there.

Shamon Moss and Blake Vandegrift ripped RBI singles in the fourth to knot the game up at 2.

Hershel Gardner gave the Bucs the lead in the fifth on an RBI sacrifice fly to make it a 3-2 ballgame.

Kevin Riley and DJ Peters kept the momentum going with RBI doubles in the sixth to push the lead to 6-2.

The Bucs extended the margin to 7-2 in the seventh.

Jonathan Hopkins (2-0) threw a complete game, while striking out five and allowing no earned runs on just five hits.
