The Pirates (20-5, 10-4) defeated the East LA Dodgers 4-0 Tuesday afternoon at Cal Poly Pomona.
It was scoreless heading into the bottom of the fifth inning, but that’s when the Pirate bats awakened.
Kyle Jackson singled and scored on an RBI knock by Alec Morabito to make it 1-0. Jason Padlo scored Morabito on a single to left field that increased the lead to 2-0.
In the seventh, Inland Valley tacked on one more. Anthony Virgen and Chaneng Varela cranked back-t0-back doubles.
The Pirates added an insurance run in the eighth when Bryce Cherry ripped a single up the middle scoring Greg Espinosa.
Ryan Romero (3-0) tossed 4.1 innings and struck out four.
Jordan Scheftz and Conlan McKenzie (1 IP) and Aaron Reynoso and Jack Johnson (1.1 IP) all held the Dodgers scoreless.
